LJUBLJANA AND LAKE BLED

If there was one town that reminded me of Vancouver while I was away traveling in Europe for a month, it was Ljubljana. Okay, more like Lake Bled. With the snow-capped junior Alps in the background and the mirror-like lake it was centered around, it reminded me of somewhere between North Vancouver and Whistler. So beautiful.

BRATISLAVA

I woke up on Christmas Day and was in Bratislava! I spent the Christmas holidays! I spent one night in Bratislava and although most of the town was closed and enjoying and celebrating Christmas, I was out exploring during some truly beautiful weather. There were a select number of establishments that remained open that we were able to take advantage and had a wonderful buffet breakfast in the hotel at the Sheraton - still a very festive time in this Central European city!

PRAGUE

Wow, a blog post written within a month of traveling to the destination? Get the fuck outta here… Yes, I was really good at writing and keeping my thoughts super fresh while I was away on vacation (at least in the beginning, ha). I want to share with you my experience in Prague during the wintertime. What a magical place to be during the holidays! The Christmas cheer, try castle, mulled wine, and lots and lots of meat. It was a great kick off to my month-long European vacation!

MADRID

Ah, Madrid. I’m back in you. Two years in a row - really? Yes, I, too, never thought I would be back so soon but when my dad decided to join me on my trip to Morocco, Spain seemed like a great add-on since it’s just across the water. seeing Madrid for a second time was just as good as the first time…perhaps even better! Spain just never gets old.

AMSTERDAM

What an exceptionally beautiful city! Amsterdam was everything I was hoping for and more. Scenic canals, bicycles everywhere, beautiful people and food - it was exquisite. I’m so glad that AMS is a hub for so many different pathways into Europe and elsewhere in the world. Looking forward to revisiting this aesthetically-pleasing city once again!

BELGRADE

I visited Belgrade! Honestly, it’s one of the least tourist-infested cities in Europe. Literally. I could count the amount of tourists I saw on my hand in a day. It was honesty really refreshing going and visiting a city which I had absolutely no clue on. Despite having a Serbian sugar daddy, I did not know much about the city. And I probably left still not knowing much about it. The city isn’t super well set up for tourists yet but that was part of the charm of it. I’m really excited to see how Belgrade will change in the years to come.

CORDOBA

Just one day in Cordoba. Actually, I had less than a day. Let’s say I had…20 hours including a good night’s sleep? It’s completely doable. The mere 2-hour train ride and its small stature, makes Cordoba a great day trip away from the hustle and bustle of Madrid. I really was moved by the food here and the beautiful walled city. So happy to have visited this quaint little city!

CHIANG MAI

Chiang Mai, the northern part of Thailand. What can I say about you? Well, firstly, you were better than Bangkok. You were (literally) cooler than Bangkok. And your food was great too! I had seen many temples by this point so the only main draw for me was seeing the elephants. Was it worth it? You’ll have to read after the jump!

LISBON

Warning: picture-heavy post. VERY picture-heavy. Lisbon. What a dream of a city! Definitely my favourite city of all-time. The orange-covered rooftops, countless natas, and copious amounts of wine! A very walkable (yet hilly) city, I had so much wandering the streets without knowing where I was going. Every street corner was Instagrammable and the people were so friendly. I hope to return to this wonderful city one day.

SAN JUAN

Not going to lie, I’ve never been interested in Puerto Rico…not until Despacito came out and I became obsessed with Daddy Yankee and Luis Fonsi. But since I needed a weekend getaway, I thought “Why not Puerto Rico?”. There was this beautiful new hotel opening in the ritzy Condado district that I just needed to check out so…I booked my flight. And the rest is (recent) history.

MALTA

Malta, I’ve been dreaming about you since last year. You see, I was supposed to go to Malta last year but due to complications, I wasn’t able to go and went to Rome instead. Since then, I just couldn’t get it out of my mind. Fast forward to 2019, I was planning a trip to Europe and to be honest, I knew I had to make it happen. And I am beyond ecstatic with how pleasant my stay was. It was all a dream - and a damn well good one.

MEXICO CITY

Mexico City. An accidental layover turned into a spontaneous birthday trip for myself and my dad. What a vibrant city. An eclectic mix of modernity and and the old. Still authentic to a tee. Dirt cheap tacos and world class mezcal cocktails. Currently awaiting my next weekend trip to this wonderful city. Skip the beaches and go to CDMX instead.

PORTO

Porto, what a dream of a city. I loved visiting you so much. You were first my introduction to Portugal - and what an introduction it was! A quaint little city nestled by the mouth of the Atlantic Ocean and the Douro River, producing the best port in the world. The food was out of this world. For someone that knew nothing of Porto prior to visiting, I cannot stop boasting about how wonderful my stay was.

ICELAND

Iceland has been a dream of mine to visit for the past little while and I am so glad I finally got to visit! With tourism increasing every year, it was time to go. I visited over my birthday with two of my girlfriends and it certainly lived up to its expectations - and more. I still don’t think the pictures do justice but judge for yourself! Prepare yourself for a very picture-heavy post on Iceland.

WELLINGTON

Never thought in a million years that I’d be traveling to Wellington but of course, life trajectories happen and have lead me to this beautiful city. Wellington was the highlight of this trip to the Pacific Islands and I am glad I made the trek out there. Wellington, although small, is completely doable in a day or two. Its best enjoyed starting off the day at one of the many artisanal coffee shops, people watching by the bays and ending with a cocktail or two. One of the most hipster cities I’ve seen as a whole and I loved it all. Read on to find out why!

FIJI

Bula! Fiji was a spur-of-the-moment add-on to my recent trips to New Zealand and Australia. Featuring a one-night stint, Fiji in a day might not sound doable…but if you’re on this side of the world, why not? Heavenly blue waters, tropical climate and everlasting sunsets, what more could you possibly ask for? More after the jump!

YANGON

Yangon, Myanmar. A place only opened to tourism a mere six years ago and is still unbeknownst to the Western world. So little is known about the country tourism-wise and you’re stuck reading the same blogs with the same tips. But what else is there to do? I was luckily able to explore and wonder over a couple of days in the old capital of Myanmar and it came as a wonderful surprise after my chaotic tourist-filled stay in Thailand. If you’re wanting a place that is still relatively undiscovered and you can count the number of foreigners on your hand, Yangon just might be the place to visit.

The sprawling metropolitan capital of Rome. What a sight, what a beauty! A city studded so full of ancient monuments and doused in history. But is it possible to visit this city in a mere matter of days? A spontaneous flight purchase and boom, I did it again - another weekend trip! It’s definitely doable but I would advise you to plan accordingly. Rome in 48 hours, the complete itinerary - after the jump!

BALI

Bali... Oh, where to start? Such a hot destination for over the past ten years or so. I always dub Bali the new Thailand.  Island life, hot tropical weather, exotic fruits, white people everywhere.
